The Cafeteria Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient food service environment for students and staff. This role involves managing staff, food preparation, inventory, and adherence to health and safety regulations. The Cafeteria Supervisor will also integrate Christian values into the workplace, fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the school’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cafeteria Operations:
- Supervise the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring that food is prepared, served, and stored according to health and safety guidelines.
- Oversee meal service for students and staff, ensuring that all meals are served in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized cafeteria environment, including kitchen areas, serving lines, and dining spaces.
- Monitor the use of kitchen equipment and ensure all equipment is operating properly and safely.
- Staff Management:
- Supervise cafeteria staff, providing direction and support in daily tasks such as food preparation, serving, and cleaning.
- Train new cafeteria employees in food safety, customer service, and operational procedures.
- Schedule staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to staff to promote a high standard of service and teamwork.
- Menu Planning and Food Preparation:
- Develop healthy, nutritious, and appealing meal options that align with the school’s standards and values.
- Ensure that meals meet dietary restrictions and preferences, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and other special needs.
- Oversee meal preparation, ensuring portion sizes, food quality, and presentation meet established standards.
- Monitor food inventory, ordering supplies as needed to ensure that food is available for meal service.
- Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:
- Ensure that all food safety regulations are followed, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, including regular cleaning of equipment, surfaces, and dining spaces.
- Ensure that cafeteria operations comply with local, state, and federal health and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of food storage and preparation areas to prevent contamination and maintain hygiene.
- Budget and Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing the cafeteria budget, ensuring that food and supplies are purchased within budgetary guidelines.
- Track inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food waste to optimize resources and minimize costs.
- Maintain records of inventory, food purchases, and meal counts for reporting purposes.
- Customer Service:
- Foster a positive and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors in the cafeteria.
- Address concerns or complaints regarding meals or cafeteria operations in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Encourage students to practice healthy eating habits and model positive behavior in the cafeteria.
- Spiritual and Community Integration:
- Integrate the school’s Christian values into the cafeteria environment, promoting kindness, respect, and inclusivity.
- Participate in school events or activities where the cafeteria plays a role, such as school-wide lunches, special events, or faith-based gatherings.
- Model Christ-centered leadership through interactions with staff, students, and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or related coursework in food service management is a plus).
- Previous experience in food service or cafeteria management, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling and storage procedures.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct staff.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and service-oriented attitude at all times.
- A commitment to the school’s Christian mission and values.
- Food Safety certification or other related certifications.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a K-12 school or Christian school setting.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- This is an on-site position, requiring regular interaction with students, staff, and other school personnel.
- The role requires physical stamina, including standing for extended periods, lifting, and moving food or equipment.
- The Cafeteria Supervisor may be required to work during meal hours, including mornings, lunch periods, and some after-school events.
