The Truck Driver / Warehouse Associate drives Flintco Fleet vehicles, tractor-trailer combinations and performs all duties of a warehouse worker as needed. This position requires Certificates, Licenses and Registration Valid Class A CDL license, a clean driving record, and Valid DOT Medical Card. Must be willing to work various shifts and start times including days, nights, and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides whole numbers.
- Organizes and manages time, duties, and activities efficiently.
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Checks vehicle to ensure that tires, mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Reports vehicle or trailer defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicle.
- Gathers delivery information, job name, job number and contact.
- Verifies routes and permits when applicable.
- Drives trucks with capacities greater than 26,000 pounds, including tractor-trailer combinations, and has appropriate state / federal license requirements.
- Checks condition of trailer, equipment, and material before loading and after unloading to ensure there is no damage.
- Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid; performs minor repairs.
- Maintains driving logs of working hours of vehicle service following applicable state and federal regulations.
- Operates vehicle following all state and federal regulations.
- Follows Flintco rules and regulations for operating a motor vehicle.
- Maneuvers truck into loading and unloading positions, following signals from loading crew.
- Drives truck to weigh station scales after loading to document weights and complies with state and federal regulations.
- Secures cargo for transport using ropes, straps, blocks, chains, binders or covers. Cranks trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
- Removes debris from loaded and unloaded trailers. Ensures windshield is clear of all obstructions including ice or snow. Removes ice and snow from steps of vehicle and trailer, when applicable.
- Checks in with the EWM and / or EWM Office Administrator between loads for assignment of task or activity in the warehouse Facilitates documentation exchange with the project, i.e., Warehouse order tickets and return tickets to warehouse.
Work Environment while performing the duties of this position in the Yard, Warehouse, Maintenance Shop, or project site, the employee is regularly exposed to moving parts; moving machinery; high, precarious places; close tight quarters; the requirement to be raised and lowered several hundred feet in a bucket; the requirement to walk several hundred feet over rough terrain at an 8 to 16 degree slope; the potential for falling rock; fumes or airborne particles; drilling a blasting activities; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in work environment is generally loud.
