Position Summary:
Oversees and performs maintenance and repairs of all agency-owned/controlled properties and vehicles including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal, minor electrical and plumbing work and carpentry work. Serves as liaison with outside contractors/vendors. Maintains accurate records of all work performed on agency properties and vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Vehicular Safety Program.*
- Implement loss control procedures as suggested by insurance company loss control. Responsible for assuring correct implementation and follow-through in the event an agency vehicle is involved in a traffic accident.
- Responsible to respond to maintenance and vehicle emergency situations, including occasional calls from on-call manager after hours and on weekends. . Designates a substitute if not available to be respond.*
- Provide ongoing upkeep and maintenance for all FSI vehicles and properties. Plan and implement an ongoing preventative maintenance program. Respond to vehicle problems and property repairs. Determine feasibility and cost benefit of doing the work in house versus outsourcing.*
- Responds to maintenance requests from Life Enrichment Center and Community Living properties in a timely manner and provides documentation of receipt and completion of work requests.*
- Assures routine preventative maintenance and repairs on all FSI equipment (LEC and residential).*
- Ensures proper care of grounds of all FSI properties for seasonal needs. *
- Approves all maintenance purchases.*
- Obtain bids from outside contractors when necessary. Determine most cost effective ways of performing needed work. *
- Provide relevant training for staff as appropriate and/or requested. Responsible to see that all department personnel maintain necessary credentials for certification and/or licensing within department, including minimum levels of in-service training.
- May establish and maintain acceptable performance standards for staff. Provides input into performance evaluations of staff annually.
- Serve as a member of the Safety Committee. Schedule, coordinate, and conduct outside inspections of FSI facilities. Follow through on corrective actions to be taken, with reports to the Director and Safety Committee Chair.*
- Oversees access to FSI building after regular office hours.*
- Ensure routine maintenance is performed on fire sprinkler systems, outdoor sprinkler systems and generators at all FSI locations.*
- Oversee potential construction projects as needed
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, local and FSI regulations as applicable to maintenance and transportation.*
- Participate as a member of other committees as assigned. Participate in inspections during KDADS licensing and certification, and fire inspections. Preparation for Accreditation, if applicable.*
- Participate in and ensure all staff requirements are met regarding First Aid/CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute, Medication Administration Training (initial and yearly), Blood Borne Pathogens, Defensive Driving and other training as appropriate.*
- Act as janitor, electrician, auto technician, sprinkler technician, appliance repair, plumber and painter as needed.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum education and experience required:
One year from college or technical school required and a valid driver’s license. A minimum of five years of related experience and or training required, or combination of training, education and experience.
Minimum licensure or registration required:
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license including no more than three violations or a major infraction such as a DUI or reckless/careless driving within the last 36 months.
- Hold and retain automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Kansas.

- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license including no more than three violations or a major infraction such as a DUI or reckless/careless driving within the last 36 months. Hold and retain automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Kansas. Successful completion of background check and pre-employment drug screen. Completion of new staff orientation and regularly scheduled course updates and certifications within prescribed period (as assigned.).
