Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general upkeep, event set ups, repairs, and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and physical facilities across the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) campus. Reporting directly to the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor and Director of Facilities and Security, this role ensures a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Perform plumbing repairs, including unclogging drains, fixing leaks, replacing faucets, and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Handle general maintenance tasks, including carpentry, welding, painting, roofing, flooring, and equipment repairs.
• Receive, inventory, and distribute shipments, packages, and mail to various departments.
• Maintain facility building systems such as monitoring the high school pool, including water quality, temperature, and filtration.
• Ensure cleanliness of restrooms, loading docks, carports, dumpster areas, and pool deck.
• Conduct regular inspections of campus facilities, including boilers, heating rooms, and lighting systems.
• Provide on-call emergency maintenance support as needed or for school related events.
• May be asked to assist with service and routine maintenance for school vehicles (e.g., oil changes, tire replacements, general repairs).
• Wash and clean school vehicles as needed.
• Move and set up furniture for classrooms, offices, and campus events.
• Deliver supplies and equipment to departments as required.
• Assist with event and meeting setups, including installation and removal of athletic equipment such as pool lane lines, soccer goals, and bleachers.
• Perform minor repairs and inspections on building systems, including: Boilers, radiators, HVAC systems, and forced-air heating units, exhaust fans, refrigeration units, sump pumps, and elevators.
• Basic knowledge on fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency safety equipment
• Conduct basic electrical work, such as replacing outlets, fuses, fixtures, ceiling fans, and transformers.
• Respond to graffiti and vandalism repairs promptly.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Valid California driver’s license with insurability at FSHA’s standard rate.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, building systems, and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
• Excellent customer service, with problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions .

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

• Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and mechanical hazards.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, lift, and carry heavy objects for extended periods up to 50lbs.
• Requires climbing, kneeling, and reaching to inspect and repair equipment.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Property maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
