WHAT WE DO?
We are recruiting AmeriCorps members to teach and guide youth and seniors to live healthier lives by providing healthy meals, nutrition education, and physical activity programming. FLIPANY's AmeriCorps program has been federally funded for three years to deliver these services to the community. If you have the drive and passion, we would love to hear from you.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to teach independently or co-teach youth and/or seniors. (We will train you and provide all materials)
- Ability to serve from March 10, 2025, to July 31, 2025, or from April 20, 2025, to July 31, 2025.
- Ability to serve 22 - 24 hours per week (morning, afternoon and evening hours available)
- Ability to drive to different service locations in your area.
- Ability to take action without being told what to do and do so in a way that is resourceful, determined, and proactive.
- Committed to accuracy and excellence.
- Dependable and professional.
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Check (national and state criminal history background check)
MEMBER DUTIES:
- Visit different sites in your area to deliver services to underserved communities.
- Work directly with the community (youth and/or seniors) teaching classes in nutrition, cooking, and recreational/physical activity.
- Distribute healthy food at sites by packing and/or giving out healthy food to our community.
- Assist with preparing, day-of, during and at the conclusion of special events.
- Participate in in-person and virtual trainings and attend weekly virtual check-ins & monthly meetings.
- Attend National Days of Service- 9/11 & MLK are mandatory.
- Abide by all service site policies and procedures, as well as adhere to all AmeriCorps policies.
