Job Description
FLIPANY’s is seeking a Nutrition Educator to work directly with community youth. The Nutrition Educator will teach classes in nutrition, cooking, at FLIPANY’s two summer camps in Florida City. The ideal Nutrition Educator is excited about encouraging and supporting healthy lifestyles for youth and families, while demonstrating strong and positive class management of groups of youth.
This position requires a passionate individual prepared to deliver content and guide youth through wellness activities centered on healthy lifestyle habits including healthy cooking, nutrition education, and gardening. The Nutrition Educator works with FLIPANY’s Public Health department to implement content in an in person setting to youth of all ages. You must be passionate about encouraging and supporting children, promoting healthy lifestyles, and demonstrating relevant teaching experience as well as behavior management skills.

The Nutrition Educator will work at 1 – 2 summer camps in Florida City, totaling between 20-40 hours. FLIPANY provides curriculum content and training for class material.
Schedule:
June – August; total of 20-40 hours per predetermined shifts that are between 8:30 and 3:00 pm. The shift will be the same the entire summer.
Details and Compensation:
- 40 – hours per week (20 at each camp, camps are 1 mile apart)
- The Nutrition Educator position is a contractor position.
- Compensation is hourly
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to adhere to program guidelines and correctly implement the curriculum outlined for the program with proven results.
- Teaching experience
- Excellent motivational abilities, class management, redirection skills, and facilitation of positive reinforcement teaching mechanisms;
- Willingness to learn (or familiarity with) MyPlate nutritional standards
- Excellent ‘classroom management’ and ability to work with behavioral issues among youth populations;
- Ability to deliver classes in a live, in person, setting to a group of 15-20 participants
- Ability to work logically and systematically with site staff at diverse locations while maintaining excellent communication with FLIPANY team and supervisors
- Willingness to guide youth through basic cooking lessons utilizing a skillet, in class preparation (cutting, dicing, etc.)
- Ability to adhere to program guidelines and correctly implement the curriculum outlined for the program with proven results.
