Position Overview:
The Senior Counselor II is responsible for assisting with the oversight of the daily operations of the summer camp, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for campers and staff. This leadership role involves program planning, staff supervision, camper safety, and coordination of camp activities. The Senior Counselor II will serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and community partners while ensuring that the camp runs smoothly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
● Minimum of 2 years of experience in camp management, youth programming, or related leadership roles.
● Commitment to health and wellness.
● Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and support staff.
● Experience in conflict resolution, behavior management, and child development strategies.
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with children, parents, and staff.
● Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
● CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).
● Knowledge of safety regulations and risk management procedures for youth programs.
● Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings as needed.
● Bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole (preferred but not required).
Responsibilities:
● Assist in the implementation of camp programs, schedules, and activities to ensure a fun and educational experience for all campers.
● Ensure camp activities align with the organization's mission and objectives.
● Coordinate with camp counselors and activity specialists to develop engaging and age-appropriate programming.
● Assist with camp logistics, including camper check-in/check-out, meal distribution, and transportation.
