Job Summary
The Director of Parts and Service is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the parts and service operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and exceptional customer satisfaction. This role oversees inventory management, service performance, vendor relationships, and team leadership while driving revenue growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance the efficiency and profitability of parts and service operations.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track success and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align departmental goals with overall business objectives.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship to service managers, technicians, and parts staff.
- Liaise with field service and sales to drive business growth.
Operations Management
- Oversee parts inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize costs.
- Implement best practices for service operations, including scheduling, repairs, and customer service procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Monitor warranty claims, service contracts, and maintenance programs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Financial & Performance Management
- Develop and manage department budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.
- Analyze financial reports and service metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Drive revenue growth through service offerings, upselling parts, and customer retention strategies.
Customer Experience & Relationship Management
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining excellent service quality and response times.
- Handle escalated customer concerns and implement solutions to enhance service reputation.
- Develop relationships with key clients, vendors, and suppliers to support business growth.
Team Development & Training
- Recruit, train, and retain top talent within the parts and service departments.
- Implement ongoing training programs to keep staff updated on industry trends, new products, and technical skills.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Automotive Technology, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 7 years of experience in parts and service operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, service processes, and industry regulations.
- Proven track record of driving profitability and operational efficiency.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze financial reports and service metrics to inform business decisions.
- Proficiency in service management software and ERP systems.
