Job Summary:
The Dock Hand plays an integral role in ensuring the safety of all guests by educating all renters on water safety and proper use of the equipment. In addition, the Dock Hand is responsible for the daily upkeep of the marina, slips, jet skis, boats, and marina grounds. The following tasks are required to be performed by the Dock Hand for the daily operations at the marina to be successful.
Essential Job Duties
● Review of the daily agenda to prepare the boats and jet skis for the upcoming rentals for the day
● Providing a thorough orientation for the boat rentals by helping the guests load, walking the guests through
the essentials on how to operate the boat, and educating them on the waterway rules
● Briefing the jet ski renters on the safety guidelines and correct operations of the equipment and educating
them on the waterway rules
● Consistent monitoring of the marina slips to ensure a boat or jet ski is ready for the next renter, or a slip is
prepared to receive a returning boat or jet ski
● Engaging all guests throughout their visit in regards to their experience at the marina
● Communicating effectively with the marina office to ensure all tracking numbers and names are correct
● Opening and closing tasks including checking the bathrooms, trash, toilet paper, and cleanliness
● Maintaining the cleanliness of all boats and jet skis as well as the grounds around the marina
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
● Ability to work in a warm/hot environment
● Willing to work weekend hours and some nights
● Ability to multitask and take ownership of the different tasks that are assigned
● Ability to work as part of a team and take the initiative independent of direct supervision
● Ability to effectively communicate with guests, peers, and management
● Valid driver’s license
● Ability to lift 50 pounds
● Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing up to 8 consecutive hours and occasional
stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
