To exhibit a level of professionalism and confidentiality in maintaining accurate records of all student/teacher data as required by the SC Department of Education and Florence 1 Schools. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, meeting all state and district data collection deadlines regarding student attendance and working with teachers to ensure that accurate attendance information is reported.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enters and manages the entry of student attendance/tardies in PowerSchool.
- Directs teachers concerning attendance procedures and policies and monitors the entry of same by teachers ensuring that attendance is taken daily in PowerTeacher for daily/period attendance.
- Prepares student absence lists and daily absence bulletin. Maintains student sign-in/sign-out logs, based upon directions from principal.
- Monitors student absences for correct excused/unexcused coding, entering parental notes/medical excuses, etc. in PowerSchool.
- Corresponds with parents frequently concerning student absences and tardiness, including Truancy/Chronic Absenteeism notification per state/district directives.
- Employs the PowerSchool program to generate attendance reports to satisfy the requirements of Florence 1 Schools and school administrators.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of computers, networking, and office practices.
- High level of accuracy in data entry and management.
- Administrative skills to interpret county and state policies governing student attendance.
- Communication skills to communicate with school personnel, students, parents, and outside
agencies. - Ability to perform common arithmetical functions.
- Software/word processing skills for data entry, reporting, word processing, desktop publishing,
spreadsheets, and PowerSchool program. - Uses discretion to structure tasks to meet expectations and prioritizes to meet deadlines.
- Keeps information confidential.
- Needs limited supervision and is able to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions.
- Able to make decisions and solve problems with school data and information provided.
