Job Description
The Law Library Assistant provides library services to the public and assists patrons and organizations in using Law Library materials and other library resources.
Essential Functions:
- Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Responds to and resolves patron questions or concerns.
- Shelves and organizes materials, updates patron accounts, and assists patrons in finding materials. Provides reader’s advisory and book recommendations.
- Organizes and maintains law library resources. Plans and conducts related programs, assists patrons with usage, and creates handouts and other documents.
- Assists patrons with public computers, online catalog, and other library equipment and resources.
- Creates displays, craft kits, and other passive programs.
- Assists with scheduling and monitoring of study rooms, meeting rooms, and classroom.
- Assists with other departmental tasks as needed, such as inter-library loans, book donations, special collections, etc.
- Participates in the library’s ongoing training program.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Assists in other library departments as needed.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as needed.
- Works evenings and weekends as required.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
- Associate’s Degree; 1-2 years of library, paralegal, or customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and office equipment.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

- The employee must have the ability to travel up to 5%.
