2025 Summer On-Field Host Internship
Are you looking for a summer internship? Wanting one where you’ll actually be doing the work versus just “assisting” with everything? Look no further!
The Florence Flamingos summer internship program is designed to give college students real-world experience. Each intern becomes the chief of staff for the department head in that particular area. The goal for all of our interns is when the summer is over, you are ready to make a difference in your world.
Our summer internship runs with our season, which begins May 29th and ends August 4th. We ask our interns to arrive no later than May 15th. We have a total of 30 home games, and most interns will see a mix of working both games and in the office. You must be able to commit to all 30 home games.
The Flamingos are a summer-collegiate baseball team located in Florence, South Carolina. The team plays in the Coastal Plain League and competes against teams located in Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Virginia.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Act as the primary on-field personality introducing in game promotions and contests.
- Create an energetic and engaging atmosphere at our events through pregame and in-game action.
- Review and provide feedback on PA script to ensure accuracy and seamless execution.
- Confidently announce to crowds of 1,500 people using a microphone.
- Maintain high energy throughout the game to engage and excite fans.
- Interact with fans in the stand and on the field to create memorable experiences.
- Collaborate with the promotional team to execute pre-planned promotional games and theme nights.
- Maintain a professional image at all times, whether on or off the microphone.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong public speaking skills
- Requires ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to collaborate in a creative environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail
- Some baseball experience is preferred, but not required.
You will be responsible for housing and transportation. College credit and a stipend is available for all internships.
