Florida A&M University's Controller's Office is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Accountinig Coordinator vacancy.
Responsibilities
This position is part of the General Accounting-Reporting & Analysis, which is responsible for providing financial reporting and analysis on behalf of the University and performs the duties of reconciling University financial records to external parties relating to bank accounts.
Performs monthly reconciliations of all University bank accounts, including operating, student, payroll, and research accounts; Prepares monthly departmental P-Card journals in coordination with Procurement Services and Travel Department; Generates General Ledger reports (such as trial balances and ledger activities) monthly, as well as on an ad hoc basis; Performs financial research, using both transactional and summary level data in various formats using a variety of methods such as commitment control, queries, General Ledger reports, spreadsheets, and database applications; Assists in preparation of the University annual financial statements, as well as other financial reporting requirements; and, Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Positions assigned to this class specification may have additional requirements such as possession of a State of Florida CPA Certificate.
Recommended Competencies
Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment;
Knowledge of collection and/or cash handling procedures and ability to perform monetary transactions;
Ability to compile, review, and reconcile complex financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance;
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
Highly proficient knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities;
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations;
Ability to analyze, understand, and interpret policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously;
Ability to utilize problem-solving skills;
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices; and,
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
