Florida A&M University Facilities, Planning, Construction and Safety/Plant Operations and Maintenance Department (Janitorial Services Shop) is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Custodial Services Superintendent vacancy, position #17213.
Responsibilities
Overall management and operational responsibility for all four shifts of the Custodial Program for the Janitorial Services area of Plant Operations and Maintenance on Florida A&M University's campus.
Review work schedules and assignments to provide optimum utilization of manpower and material resources; Assist in planning and implementing a Custodial Program for all educational and general buildings located on Florida A&M University’s campus; The program embraces periodic carpet cleaning and all other phases of cleaning, including floors, walls, classrooms, restrooms, furniture, chalkboards, building halls and entrance areas, sidewalks and changing light bulbs; Maintain accountability for supplies and equipment assigned to the area by conducting supply and equipment inventories; Advise Director (Campus Services) of information on inventory levels to ensure that adequate materials and supplies are maintained; Attend periodic training sessions for in-service employees; Sessions may include supervision, discipline, attendance and leave, new innovations in building services cleaning techniques and other job related and/or personnel enhancing sessions.
Maintain a log and track all POM equipment and inventory; Conduct four quarterly and one annual inventory to ensure 100% inventory of POM; Ensure 100% labeling and tagging of all POM equipment; Manage and track the relocation requests of all POM equipment; Inspect, replace and maintain all restroom dispensers in the highest state of appearance and workability; Report maintenance requests for light bulb changes or repairs to inoperable equipment, electrical outlets, broken furniture or fixtures, etc; Perform daily custodial duties as necessary to accomplish requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalency and five years of related supervisory experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Recommended Competencies
Knowledge of principles and techniques of program planning, evaluation, and training;
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and techniques;
Ability to supervise people;
Ability to review and formulate maintenance policies and procedures;
Ability to conduct inspections of buildings, furnishings and maintenance equipment;
Ability to distribute and monitor the use of supplies and materials;
Ability to maintain accurate records;
Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignment;
Ability to bend, kneel & lift a minimum of 25lbs;
Ability to stand for a minimum of 2 hours without a break;
Ability to communicate effectively in written form and verbally; and,
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Anticipated Salary Range
The salary range is between $46,000 to $48,000 commensurate with relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
Pay Plan
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
