Job Title : Lot Porter Department : Operations Reports to : General Manager Effective Date : 2 / 21 / 2025 Pay Type : Hourly FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Job Summary : The lot porter maintains the appearance of the dealership, vehicles and grounds, ensuring vehicles are presentable and organized for customers and staff and that the grounds and building(s) are clean and orderly. This position involves vehicle movement, light vehicle maintenance and lot and building maintenance. This position also provides support for various other functions of the dealership. Rate of Pay : $15.00 to $20.00 based on experience Essential Duties / Responsibilities : Maintains new- and used-vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing all vehicle fluids as needed, and replacing batteries or other maintenance items when necessary. Places buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles. Keeps new- and used-vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by the general manager and in accordance with dealership display standards. Sweeps, shovels or vacuums loose debris or salvageable scrap into containers and removes containers from work areas. Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards or regulations. Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed. Makes key tags for vehicles. Ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for test drives. Assist with vehicle delivery preparations. Keep the dealership lot neat and orderly, removing debris and ensuring clear walkways. Perform routine checks to ensure all vehicles are locked and secure. Monitor and maintain the lot lighting and signage. Other tasks / projects and duties as assigned within capabilities of team member to satisfactorily complete. Required Skills / Abilities : Driving history that meets company insurance requirements to be covered by general liability coverage. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Education, Certificates and Licenses and Experience : Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements : Exposure to various weather conditions while working outdoors. Periodic exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes and cleaning chemicals. Standing, walking, and moving vehicles for extended periods. Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year. Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present. Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
