What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ministry Protection/Risk Management Claims Specialist position at Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church?
Position Summary : This role is to administer insurance claims for workers compensation, property and casualty losses for the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church, a large, self-insured non-profit organization.
Claims Specialists with multi-line experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Analyzing liability and damages issues in connection with claims made against our insureds and maintaining appropriate documentation
- Analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters
- Monitoring outside counsel in the defense of our insureds to effectively resolve claims
- Evaluating full diary of pending matters in connection with the posting and maintaining of accurate reserves
- Establish timely reserves and perform ongoing review throughout claims cycle within authority limit
- Maintaining and developing relationships with insureds, brokers and outside counsel to include oversight of and direction for the Conference’s Third-Party Administrators
- Ensure customer service by proactively communicating information; responding to inquires; following Ministry Protection protocols
- Monitor litigation activities of assigned counsel and established litigation plan; coordinating defense lawyer activities; continuously reviewing the potential for settlement with claimant; reviewing litigation expenses and authorizing payments
- Collaborating with and providing support and information to underwriters in connection with their evaluation of risk within the risk management program
