Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America's first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America's first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida.
OVERVIEW
The Project Engineer under general direction or working independently oversees and is responsible for all engineering projects including but not limited to the planning, organizing, and directing of project activity to assure that plant reliability, safety, and environmental requirements are met. The Project Engineer must be able to exercise considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply operational guidelines to specific situations as needed.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates daily with other plant management regarding day-to-day projects progress, and plant access or impact to the operation
- Conducts engineering analysis and develops recommendations to maintain and improve plant efficiency, reliability, safety and environmental compliance and cost performance
- Provides analytical and financial analysis for Capital Projects and required system upgrades
- Works jointly with operations and maintenance to continuously identify, develop plant improvements
- Drives continuous business improvement through detailed evaluation of plant performance, operating practices and maintenance procedures
- Performs root cause and cost benefit analysis on performance deficiencies
- Develops equipment and services bid specifications, and evaluates purchase recommendations
- Provides technical support and direction to contractors
- Is the lead person for the identification of and negotiation with contracted support
- Coordinates contractual activities by scheduling contractor's work assignments, setting priorities, and directing contractual work schedules to meet project schedules.
- Must be able to prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, maintain records and compose correspondence as required
- Works with plant personnel in reviewing procedures and investigating operating incidents and abnormalities in order to make recommendations for future equipment purchases and process improvements
- Examine objects, systems or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services or repairs
- Identifies and develops or arranges for worker training in safety, repair and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use for new equipment and operational procedures
- Must be able to provide budget recommendations for both maintenance and operations.
- Must be able to develop and implement engineering goals, objectives & operational improvements that are consistent with Company's objectives.
