Job Description
The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is seeking a Legislative Affairs Fellow to serve as a strategic asset to FDP’s Political and Communications departments. The Legislative Affairs Fellow will be responsible for tracking, researching, and documenting bill proposals and budgetary actions taken by state legislators as well as assisting the Political Director with the day-to-day operations during Special Legislative Sessions and Committee Weeks. This position is remote eligible but requires daily correspondence with FDP’s Political and Communications departments to turn legislative research and analysis into talking point guidance, press releases, and social media messaging. The Legislative Affairs Fellow must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and interacting professionally with our friendly team of FDP staff. This position will end on May 2, 2025.
Responsibilities include:
Fellows will be required to set a part-time schedule at a minimum of 10-hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week and earn $15/hr. This position will close on May 2, 2025.

Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a main point of contact for the FDP Political Director while working within the Florida State Capitol regarding all legislative proceedings during Special Session(s) and Committee Weeks
- Track, research, and document bill movements and relevant appropriations requests
- Record floor debates, pertinent vote totals, and related interviews and broadcast content from the Florida Channel
- Correspond daily with FDP Political and Communications Departments
- Partner with the FDP Digital Intern to develop content for legislative session
- Prepare bill summary materials and committee meeting notes
- Work and report to FDP Tallahassee office during Special Session(s) and Committee Weeks as necessary
- Signup and follow FDP communication channels (newsletters, social media accounts, press releases, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by the Political Director
- Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail and ability to keep wellorganized
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Selfmotivation, professionalism and a positive demeanor
- Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
- Experience with design applications Canva, CapCut, etc. is a plus
- Willingness to work outside of typical business hours, including nights and weekends with approx. 25% travel by car
- A strong commitment to Democratic ideals and issues
