Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in gastroenterology to join our dynamic healthcare team! Essential Duties:
- Provide care to gastroenterology patients by developing diagnoses, establishing patient care objectives, noting changing conditions and needs, providing treatments and services involving disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and collaborating with physicians.
- Develop patient care plans by reviewing patients’ medical histories, documenting physical and psychological conditions, and influencing social factors, conferring with family and friends, developing a diagnosis, and defining interventions, schedules, and timetables.
- Provide patient education on disease processes, treatment options, medication administration, and preventative measures.
- Assist in performing endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies with gastroenterologists.
- Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and dieticians to ensure holistic patient care.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy patient care environments by following infection control procedures, medication administration, storage protocols, and controlled substance regulations while adhering to professional, legal, and organizational policies.
- Improve job knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
- Hospital Rounding: Participate in hospital rounds one full weekend per month.

Qualifications:
- Active license in good standing with the state of Florida
- More than one year working in gastroenterology, or a related field is highly desirable.
- General Medicine or GI training preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment and collaborate with team members.
- Familiarity with EMR charting systems
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology

Physical Demands
The employee may be required to stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment and assist with positioning patients during procedures. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee should be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing clinical duties effectively.
