Florida Express Waste & Recycling is seeking a CDL Trash Truck Trainer to enhance the safety and performance of our driver team. This role is responsible for training new and current drivers in the safe operation, compliance, and efficiency of our waste collection fleet, which includes Front End Load, Roll-Off, Portable Toilet, and Residential trucks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating all truck types and a passion for promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Training & Driver Development
Conduct hands-on and classroom training for new and existing drivers on proper operation, maneuvering, and safety procedures for Front End Load, Roll-Off, Portable Toilet, and Residential trucks.Develop and implement training programs to improve driver skills, route efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.Perform ride-along evaluations and on-road assessments to ensure drivers meet company performance and safety expectations.Provide coaching and mentorship to drivers, offering constructive feedback to enhance performance. Assist in the onboarding and orientation of new hires by conducting road tests and ensuring their readiness for daily operations.Safety & Compliance
Enforce DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies related to commercial vehicle operation.Ensure all drivers are trained in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, defensive driving techniques, and proper use of safety equipment.Conduct accident and incident reviews, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to reduce future occurrences.Lead safety meetings and ongoing refresher training to reinforce best practices.Operational Support & Reporting
Work closely with operations and safety teams to address training needs, accident prevention strategies, and performance improvement initiatives.Keep detailed records of training sessions, evaluations, and driver performance reports to track progress and compliance.Assist in fleet utilization strategies by providing recommendations for driver assignments and best operational practices.Stay updated on industry regulations, safety innovations, and technology advancements to continuously enhance training programs.Job Requirements :
MUST HAVE Experience operating Front End Load, Roll-Off, Portable Toilet, and Residential trucks is required.MUST HAVE 1 year of CDL Driver Trainer experienceHigh School Diploma, (GED)Valid Class B or Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL)Clean driving record with no major violations.Minimum of 2 years of experience driving waste collection trucks.Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety procedures, and waste collection operations.Previous experience as a trainer, lead driver, or safety mentor is a plus.Ability to communicate effectively and coach drivers with diverse experience levels.Commitment to promoting a safe and efficient work environment.Open to all applicants.Current CDL License (Class A or B)Clean MVR 5 years of driving experienceAbility to lift up to 50 lbs2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience within the past 5 yearsWaste industry experience a plus but not requiredCurrent DOT medical cardBenefits Snapshot (Drivers)
