QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, skills, and experience:
- Registered Nurse with advanced training as an (Adult Nurse Practitoner) ARNP or ( Family Nurse Practitioner) FNP.
- Five years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferred.
- Experience in Outpatient Clinic or Urgent Care setting caring for walk-in and acute appointments.
- Experience with Employee Physicals, Alcohol and Drug Screening and Fitness for Duty, preferred.
- Experience with managing Health Maintenance and Chronic Disease Management.
- Current Basic Life Support and / or willing to complete within 30 days of hire.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record, preferred.
- Knowledgeable about contracts, billing, coding and reimbursement in a physician practice.
- Knowledgeable about insurance, Medicare, eligibility, benefits, etc.
- Strong communication and Customer Service skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of clinicals, ancillary and support staff creating a collaborative atmosphere of teamwork.
- Knowledge of organizational resources.
- Very good Computer skills. Familiar with electronic billing, pc software such as Microsoft office applications.
- Strong English, oral and written communication skills.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- The Nurse Practitoner shall render necessary and appropriate primary and urgent care services, within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner's training and experience, under the supervision Chief Medical Officer or physician designee.
- The Nurse Practitioner shall render the following services to eligible members as may be directed by the FHCP Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and/or Supervising Physician(s). Such services shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
a. Family Health Care.
b. Medical Histories and Physical Examinations.
c. Conduct Fitness for Duty evaluations.
d. Conduct Alcohol and Drug Screenings as indicated.
e. Evaluate acute concerns and develop treatment plan.
f. Medication prescriptions, if applicable, and related follow-up care.
g. Formulate care plan from member's data base and diagnostic test results.
h. Communicate with members regarding management of minor and chronic medical problems.
i. Confer with supervising physicians on a regular basis to provide continuity of patient care.
j. Communicate with members and member's family regarding health and patient management issues.
k. Make referrals for consultative services including review and coordination of such services.
l. Arrange for acute care when conditions for same are indicated.
m. Initiate all therapies for which Provider is qualified and which are permitted by Florida Law.
n. Report life-threatening illnesses to the supervising physicians or to a consulting physician in the specialty the illness falls.
- The Nurse Practitioner will develop in collaboration with the Physicians protocol to address routine chief complaints to streamline acceptable treatment plans.
- Other duties as may be directed by the CMO and/or Supervising Physicians.
