POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Patient Transport is responsible for the effective leadership of services which includes the successful management of supervisors, finances, client relations, patient and customer satisfaction, program quality standards, performance improvement, and personnel performance and productivity. The Director provides leadership, direction, coordination, and administration to the Patient Transport department will also be responsible for the overall planning, organizing, directing and controlling of Patient Transportation and Hospital activities. The Director will carry-out their duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Florida Medical Center, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Florida Medical Center. The Director will have knowledge of health care systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial data and statistics
- Develops and recommends department operating budget
- Coordinates transportation activities and services with other hospital departments
- Maintains records and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes
- Plans, organize, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
- Establishes work standards and work flow
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
- Demonstrates good communication skills with clients
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives
- Shows strength with financial and patient transport softwares
- Management of patient transportation add-on services such as, but not limited to, patient observation, lift, courier, valet or shuttle, where applicable.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
- Four-year college degree or equal related experience required
- Previous hospital patient transportation experience is preferred
- Supervision of staff employees required
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data
- General intuition for business
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Service/quality demeanor
- Ability to plan, organize, and achieve effective time management
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- Public speaking skills a must
