Position Summary:
Performs analysis on body fluids and exudates from hospital in-patients and out-patients to provide information for diagnosing and combating diseases. Updates procedures manual, checks quality control of each procedure and of each shift. Oversees the performance of other employees Ensures that the staff maintains their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently., checks linearities, statistics, send data to be evaluated and to be compared with other laboratories. Performs and/or review the CAP surveys of the section. Maintains required standards of accreditation. Maintains instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. Implements and maintains performance improvement program. Monitors, analyzes and justifies expense and revenue within departments. Other duties as assigned.
Responsible for assisting the Laboratory Director and the Medical Laboratory Director in the management and supervision of the Laboratory. Provide administrative direction to all sections. Provide technical direction to those areas in which the Supervisor is licensed. Support the Laboratory Director by assuming the role as a leader in planning, directing and managing the laboratory, designated sections and staff to assure quality service on a 24-hour basis. Responsible for assisting in meeting TJC, AHCA, CAP and AABB, CLIA and OIG/CMS standards, complying with corporate policy and procedure, managing the equipment in the department, promoting teamwork with physicians and all healthcare providers, promoting internal and external customer satisfaction and appropriate resource management. CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions

Qualifications/Requirements
Education
Successful completion a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical Science, or Biological Science from an accredited institution, including at least 24 semester hours of academic science (6 hours in biological sciences and 6 hours in chemical sciences) and at least 12 months of training in a clinical laboratory of a hospital accredited by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or a B.S. in Medical Technology, or an A.A. in Medical Laboratory Science with a full semester of Hospital Training. If the degree is from outside the U.S., an equivalency evaluation may be required to meet staff sign-off requirements.
Required licensures/certifications
- State of Florida supervisor's license in one or all disciplines.
- Supervisor licensure is required, covering at least 5 areas, including Clinical Chemistry, Blood Banking (Immunohematology), and Hematology, satisfying the need for the position.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform and to teach students in the threshold and practical aspect of all procedures of the department. Knowledge and understanding of the workflow in the laboratory. Manual dexterity.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Minimum of 5 years as a clinical lab technologist, with at least 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
