About the Role:

The Psychology Department Head will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience and academic integrity of the psychology program at our Hialeah Campus. This position involves overseeing the curriculum development, faculty management, and student engagement initiatives to ensure that the department meets its educational goals. The Department Head will also be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment that encourages research, innovation, and academic excellence among faculty and students alike. Additionally, this role requires active participation in strategic planning and resource allocation to enhance the department's reputation and effectiveness. Ultimately, the Department Head will be instrumental in preparing students for successful careers in psychology and related fields.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in higher education, including teaching and administrative roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with online education and curriculum development.
  • A record of published research in reputable psychology journals.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards in higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the psychology curriculum in alignment with academic standards and industry trends.
  • Supervise and mentor faculty members, providing guidance on teaching methodologies, research opportunities, and professional development.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and facilities to ensure optimal functioning of the psychology program.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including community organizations and professional associations, to enhance student internship and job placement opportunities.
  • Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and student outcomes, using data to inform continuous improvement efforts.
