Position Specific Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with a focus on data science to join our team. The ideal candidate will analyze data from our diverse energy fleets, including fossil and renewables, to develop mathematical algorithms that detect symptoms of equipment failure. This role involves collaborating with reliability and equipment engineers to create advanced failure detection methods and algorithms. You will apply a diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices to various assignments while independently making decisions regarding engineering complexities and methods.

Key Responsibilities:
- Algorithm Development: Create and enhance data analysis and reporting algorithms to support predictive monitoring and data analysis of power generation units.
- Failure Signature Analysis: Investigate data from equipment failures to develop methods for detecting failure signatures.
- Team Collaboration: Work with a team of data scientists and developers to build software applications based on requirements gathered from internal customers.
- Technical Leadership: Offer technical leadership in data science, including the specification, design, and implementation of advanced data analysis techniques and predictive algorithms.
- Proven experience in Python
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods, machine learning and data mining techniques
- Experience in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- PhD in a related field (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms
- Experience in AWS, Docker, MS SQL, PostgreSQL
- Supervisor/Management experience
