Position Specific Description

As an Engineer I on the Distribution Operations team at Florida Power & Light, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our power distribution systems. Your expertise will be critical in driving innovation, improving system performance, and enhancing the overall reliability of our distribution network. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize distribution infrastructure, while also mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the strategic direction of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of electric distribution systems to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Assist with project management, negotiations, performance tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions for complex distribution challenges.
  • Conduct detailed technical studies to evaluate system performance, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments, to ensure seamless integration with distribution operations.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and adoption of best practices.
  • Participate in the development and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing the distribution infrastructure and enhancing grid resilience.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Employees in this role evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects. This position conducts analysis on system performance and reliability strategy and provides recommendations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works on all aspects of engineering design and permitting
  • Acts as a single point of contact for mid-level complexity projects for the department
  • Tracks and reports on performance
  • Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization
  • Prepares communications and presentations, and conducts meetings
  • Meets attendance and storm duty requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Experience:3 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Master's Degree
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
