What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor of Accounting position at Florida Southern College?
The Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise at Florida Southern College invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Accounting to begin in August 2025. This is a non-tenure-track, renewable position focused primarily on teaching and student engagement. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Accounting—such as Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting—while contributing to the student experience through advising, mentoring, and co-curricular involvement.
The teaching load for this position is three (4) four-hour courses per semester. Candidates should be passionate about teaching and student success, demonstrate collegiality, and be committed to the mission of Florida Southern College. Preference will be given to individuals who are eager to contribute to the accounting profession through instructional innovation and experiential learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- Master’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field
- Professional experience in accounting or financial reporting

- Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching, and familiarity with applied and experiential teaching methods
- Commitment to student engagement and academic excellence
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
