What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Accounts Coordinator position at Florida Southern College?
The Student Accounts Coordinator is a front facing, customer service role which serves as a first point of contact in daily interactions with students and parents on matters concerning student billing and collection of payments towards student account balances along with processing cash interactions between other College offices and the Business Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Receive and greet students, parents, other visitors in a friendly, cordial manner.
2. Collect payments due for student accounts while maintaining a cash drawer daily and ensuring proper cash register balancing with no variances.
3. Provide students with information about the status of their student account. Be knowledgeable of college policies associated with financial services, payment plan options and third party billing plans
4. Process requests for student account credit refunds.
5. Resolve customer issues and answer questions.
6. Answer phones for busy office providing accurate and timely information and referring calls to colleagues as appropriate.
7. Submit billing for Florida Prepaid and other state prepaid plans
8. Process Employee Tuition Reimbursement requests
9. Monitor delinquent student accounts and assist in the College’s collections policy.
10. Assist students and parents in connecting with other College offices or personnel.
11. Perform administrative support duties as directed in support of the Business Office.
12. Contribute to the success of the Business Office by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the College.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum 2 years prior experience in a customer service and administrative support position.
3. Strong financial acumen required.
4. Ability to establish priorities, manage time wisely and be extremely flexible in a busy environment.
5. Must relate well to a variety of constituencies; have excellent skills in communication, including telephone and writing ability; strong interpersonal skills with a gracious demeanor in demanding situations; be self-motivated, showing initiative and perseverance; possess strong character and integrity; keep confidences; have strong organizational skills; enjoy working in a high multi-task environment; and work well as a “team player.”
6. Must be proficient with MicroSoft Office. Experience with Jenzabar, PowerFAIDS or similar enrollment management system a plus. Excel and Word skills very helpful.
7. Prior experience in higher education preferred.
