What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Care Licensing Counselor - South Florida position at Florida United Methodist Children's Home?
The Foster Care Licensing Counselor will be responsible for recruiting prospective foster parents, licensing foster parent applicants, relicensing current foster parents and monitoring foster homes for safety and compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of study and two plus years' experience in social work or related field preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role.
- State of Florida Child Welfare certification, required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in child welfare.
- Must have interviewing and assessment skills in order to adequately assess the qualifications of potential professional foster parents.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Travel
This position may spend up to 50% time traveling to various local foster parent homes, work locations and events.
Schedule
This position works a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the role. This position is required to participate in an after-hours on call rotation on a monthly basis. Schedule may be subject to change at any time, with or without notice. Other policies concerning this position are set forth in the current policies and procedures manual.
