What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker/Pastry Chef position at Flower & Cream?
We are looking for an experienced pastry cook/baker to prepare scratch based recipes of baked goods for our scratch made artisan ice cream.
Your skill in baking high quality treats should be matched by your creativity to develop new amazing tastes and recipes.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in culinary arts with a passion for sweet and delicious creations.
They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving.
The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele.
Responsibilities
- Prepare baked items from scratch from a set of proprietary recipes.
- Create and consulting with owner about new and exciting baked items to renew the menus and engage the interest of customers.
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate request orders.
- Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
- Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently.
- Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as pastry cook, baker or relevant role.
- Great attention to detail, creativity and efficiency in regards to time management.
- Organizing and prioritizing production requirements.
- Willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, baking techniques and recipe conversion and development.
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, vegan, sugarless etc.)
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field (portfolio helpful).
- Must have basic knife skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
