Position Summary
This position is responsible for activities required to produce plant material for scheduled target ready dates that meet plant quality and meet company goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
· Supervise and coordinate plant activities including fertilizing, pruning and spacing plants according to timing and need within the growing season.
· Train, lead, coach and supervise team of employees, develop daily objectives for employees and monitor their performance to maximize efficiency.
· Monitor crops for plant nutrition, pest, disease, weeds and herbicide applications in coordination with the Plant Health Team.
· Complete and maintain timely crop status reports/records.
· Implement process improvement on a continuing basis.
· Other projects or duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
· Degree in Horticulture (vocation and/or bachelors’ degree) preferred.
· 1 to 3 years of nursery experience is preferred.
· Previous experience managing/supervising employees is preferred.

· Strong understanding of crop cycles and grow times.
· Strong leadership traits which include presentation and influencing skills.
· Solid knowledge of irrigation management.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and coaching skills; responsive and persuasive at all levels of the organization.
· Excellent organizational/time management skills, prioritization, and multi-tasking abilities.
· Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and familiar with Teams.
· Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
Physical Demands
· Occasionally lifts/pulls/carries up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently required to stand, sit, talk, and hear, and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls.
· On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, or reach above the shoulders.
· Operate farm equipment when needed.
· Operate typical office equipment such as a computer, telephone, copy machine, etc.
· Regular mental demands such as comprehension, reasoning, decision making, and strong math skills.
