ROLE SUMMARY
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for the cultivation facility's employees, visitors, and assets. This role involves patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, controlling access at gates and entry points, and responding to emergencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain site security.
- Patrol facility premises regularly to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or unsafe conditions.
- Observe and report unusual or suspicious activity to appropriate personnel and document incidents.
- Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances promptly and professionally.
- Maintain logs of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuation coordination, first aid, or contacting emergency responders.
- Inspect and secure doors, windows, and gates at the end of shifts.
- Conduct vehicle checks at facility entry points and maintain accurate visitor records.
- Follow all site-specific security protocols and maintain compliance with safety standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven work experience as a security guard or in a similar role is preferred, especially in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Ability to operate surveillance systems and other security equipment.
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and handle emergencies effectively.
- Must be able to perform security patrols of designated areas, which may include extended periods of walking, standing, or mobility through various environments.
SKILLS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Per state law, must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
- Must pass a drug screening
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed on-site in a manufacturing environment, exposed to weather elements during outdoor patrols.
- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules and respond to emergencies as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be able to speak and hear. Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to communicate with others verbally and in writing effectively. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Must be able to perform security patrols of designated areas, which may include extended periods of walking, standing, or mobility through various environments. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position will sometimes require long hours and weekend work/holidays.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
