Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing and maintaining financial records for our automotive manufacturing company. The role involves performing day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the finance and operation teams with various reporting and reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within a manufacturing environment and possess a strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger & Balance Sheet Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger entries.
- Ensure proper classification of financial transactions.
- Post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other routine adjustments.
- Perform reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts.
- Cost Accounting & Bill of Material Maintenance:
- Assist with cost analysis related to production and manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with operations to track inventory, materials, and labor costs.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process for the manufacturing division.
- Support yearly standard cost rolls.
- Maintain Bill of Material in ERP System
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure that financial records comply with company policies, procedures, and accounting principles.
- Help prepare for internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Supporting Finance Team:
- Assist the Division Controller in preparing and analyzing financial forecasts.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Provide support on special projects and process improvements as needed.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred:
- Experience with cost accounting and general ledger maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and practices.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, on-site position.
- Occasional overtime required, particularly during month-end close, year-end close, and quarterly physical inventory.
