As an Engineering Manager at Fluke Electronics, you will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team within Operations (Manufacturing, Test, Systems, etc.). Your key responsibilities will include leading sustaining operations engineering and managing the phase-out of legacy products. You will drive and manage critical performance indicators such as 5S/Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, and Cost across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the sustaining engineering team, ensuring the successful support of both new and existing products.
- Oversee the resolution of complex customer issues and drive continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the key escalation point for significant engineering challenges in Operations.
- Offer high-level technical guidance and problem-solving expertise for manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Lead and sponsor quality improvement initiatives utilizing lean methodologies (FBS).
- Champion efforts to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve manufacturing reliability.
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, supporting their professional growth and career development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set strategic priorities, manage resources, and ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Identify and communicate major technical risks and trade-offs to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure the engineering team leverages Voice of Customer (VOC) insights to prioritize and drive impactful projects.
- Manage and report on the status of sustaining projects, providing comprehensive updates to stakeholders and leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects, particularly in a manufacturing setting, ensuring product quality and adherence to timelines.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing processes, including automation, production line optimization, and integration of new technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated track record in root cause analysis, process improvements, and the implementation of effective solutions to enhance production efficiency.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to build productive cross-functional relationships across various departments, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain.
- Ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Results-driven with a strong focus on achieving operational excellence, improving throughput, and delivering measurable outcomes that align with business objectives.
- Extensive experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives, driving waste reduction and process enhancements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of inspiring, influencing, and motivating diverse teams within a manufacturing setting to achieve high performance and innovation.
