What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-Op: Chemical Engineering (Process) position at Fluor Corp?
Our Fluor office in Greenville, SC is looking for an enthusiastic team member with a can-do attitude that supplements our growing process team.
What we are currently looking for is a Chemical Engineering candidate for the Fall 2025 semester.
This is an intern process engineering position where you will enhance and expand your engineering capabilities working on simple systems under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
Typical tasks are vary by project phase, some potential tasks include:
• Perform process engineering assignments such as creating P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and working on PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams)
• Participate in P&ID and Safety reviews.
• Perform pump hydraulics, line sizing, equipment sizing, calculating heat duty, specifying instrument data
• Understand and follow baseline documents for your project such as the prime contract, scope of work and schedule
• Get familiar with and apply Fluor's practices and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned• Pursuing bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
• Experience in Microsoft tools - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable industry guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Familiarity with process simulator tools such as Aspen or Hysys
• Familiarity with a hydraulic sizing program such as AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow
• Familiarity with P&IDs
• Previous Internship or Co-op experience• Serve as a Company representative to external clients
• Participate in Fluor University for training and career development
• Contribute to and promote the use of Fluor’s knowledge management portals and communities
• Participate in department/project meetings and training
