Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a broad set of complex assignments.
- Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project
solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projectsDevelop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecastsEstablish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecastsDevelop and review specifications, including design criteriaIncorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in designDevelop and update job execution plansDevelop and build external relations with client representatives, vendors, and subcontractors and interface closely with other discipline functions promoting Client Service ExcellenceParticipate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontractingReview and approve vendor lists, prepare quotation requests / bid tabulations / purchase orders and review substitutions for technical acceptabilityAssign work to teams, monitor and manage the workPerform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problemsEstablish and lead the squad check effort for vendor equipment documentation for assigned equipmentReview vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolutionPrepare / review scopes of work for third party contractsSupport proposal and estimate activitiesIdentify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change ordersDeliver quality work, and adhere to the Operating System Requirements (OSR)Execute project work in accordance with approved Activity PlansAdhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and proceduresContribute to and promote the use of Fluor's knowledge management portals and communitiesParticipate in Fluor University® as necessary to follow the curricula as outlined in the Functional Development FrameworksParticipate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counselingEngage Fluor's global community, promoting a OneFluor mindsetAssist in the performance of auditsAssist Functional Process Lead and Department Manager in the development of department standards, procedures, practices and guidelinesSupport the Functions Process Lead and Department Manager on initiativesMay promote company branding by active participation in external technical organizations and Code committees and present technical papers or presentations through Fluor's P4 processAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and / or project objectives and guidelinesOrganize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlinesPlan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staffMaintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standardsAdhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability PoliciesEffectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the jobMay need to travel to attend to business related mattersKnowledge and implementation of Global UNISON Data Standards and Reference Software Systems for Project ExecutionOther duties as assignedBasic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / province, and federal / national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerProfessional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materialsEffort-hour estimating and staff forecastingPractical field experienceIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsOther Job Requirements
Candidate notice : Must have US citizenship to be considered for the role.
Familiar with HVAC load calculations and applied psychometrics, capable of sizing and
preparing ductwork and equipment layouts. Knowledge of plumbing, fire water, chilled
water and refrigerant piping design principles. Capable of sizing building utilities (potable
water, fire water, steam, plant air, instrument air, and sewage waste air requirements).
Capable of selecting HVAC equipment such as air handling units, chillers, condensing
units, cooling coils, heating coils, steam coils, pumps, electric heaters, fans, cooling
towers and also capable of selecting plumbing fixtures and firefighting equipment.
Understands and knows how to follow and apply various codes, standards and handbooks
including ASHRAE Fundamentals, ASHRAE systems and equipment, ASHRAE refrigeration,
ASHRAE application, ICC (IBC, IMC, IPC & IFC), SMACNA, and NFPA.
Have experience in engineering and designing building mechanical systems for buildings in
one or more of the following industries :
Nuclear Power (preferred)Energy & Chemicals (preferred)Metals Manufacturing and ProcessingTo be Considered Candidates :
