The Industrial Relations Manager reports to the VP HR Global Operations and manages a large functional Industrial Relations area or multiple, more complex functional areas, or a single large project at the corporate level or within an operations center. Plan and execute management functions of the Industrial Relations function under his/her supervision including Area Labor Market Analysis (ALMAs), appropriate labor posture and execution approach, labor contract negotiations, employee relations issues, coaching/counseling, etc. Candidates from US Eastern region may also be considered for placement in Greenville, SC office.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Industrial Relations procedures
• Gather information as needed and direct Industrial Relations specialists, if applicable
• Function as group leader/Manager and/or participate on special Industrial Relations projects
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
• Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
• Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
• Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
• Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
• May need to travel to attend to business related matters
• Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
• Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
• Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or;
• Various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and vendor/client facilities which may have temporary office space, moving mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme temperatures and high noise levels• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Construction field experience preferred
• Open and Closed shop experience preferred
• HR generalist experience a plus
• Bilingual language capabilities a plus
• Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
• Strong public speaking, presentation, training, teaching, and writing skills
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• High critical thinking/reasoning ability• Participate in and responsible for all functions such as Area Labor Market Analyses (ALMAs), Industrial Relations plans, labor posture letters, project assistance/support, etc.
• Manage all Industrial Relations functions for projects
• Interface and maintain a close relationship with groups inside and outside the organization (other departments, business groups, projects, vendors, associations, labor organizations, etc.)
• Manage record keeping, reporting and documentation that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements, including monitoring initiatives
