In this role, you would be responsible for the delivery of services by a portion of the Fluor team, supplier or contractor to Fluor's high safety and quality standards, meeting or improving on cost, schedule and project defined milestones. You could be part of the team for small to large-sized, or mega-sized EPC or EPCM projects. Project Engineers work on multidisciplinary teams to plan and perform work requiring sound technical judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments worldwide. The role of Project Engineer – Process will be specifically focused on scope associated with the process plant and bringing demonstrated technical and execution experience to direct the work of others.
This role has the responsibility to perform the essential job duties and functions as listed below with the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and Fluor profitability of the completed project. Performing assigned general duties of limited scope and level of responsibility, this position is designed to develop broader project management knowledge and experience.
At this level, the role may have the responsibility as the only project engineer on a medium size project with full accountability for the general duties, or the responsibility for general duties on a larger or more complex segment of a very large project. In addition to your project manager and regional project execution leaders, you will have the support of Fluor University Courses for continued learning experiences and the utilization of knowledge management communities to capture, support and leverage relevant knowledge to enhance project execution.
You would be responsible for activities including:
• Performing basic project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems;
• Coordinating efforts of technical disciplines, vendors, and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations;
• Supporting enforcement and/or implementation of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) requirements and initiatives;
• Reviewing project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors;
• Supporting creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans;
• Supporting creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these;
• Supporting the preparation, delivery, and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages;
• Other duties as assigned.• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study;
• Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry including the performance of functional tasks on projects with a well-developed understanding of procedures and interfaces with the majority of the relevant experience on mining projects;
• Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholder audiences that include but are not limited to management, co-workers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors;
• Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job;
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines;
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.• Previous successful performance in a project engineering position on a minimum of two (2) medium or large sized projects;
• Previous successful performance in home office and field positions for development of mineral processing facilities or utility /infrastructure scope in remote locations;
• Experience working on projects in international locations and diverse cultural environments is recommended;
• Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs;
• Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks;
• Proactive reporting of progress and accomplishments of assignments and apply necessary follow-up to monitor progress and results of project tasks and assignments;
