The Material Handling group of Fluor’s Mining and Metals business line is involved in all aspects of design and mechanical engineering of large scale belt conveyors, crushing and screening stations, bulk material storage and reclaim solutions, and ship and rail loading and unloading facilities for the mining industry. The successful candidate will work with the lead Material Handling engineer and lead the CAD design effort producing 2D drawings and 3D models suitable for the level of the Project phase. This position will require excellent knowledge of conveyor layout, chute design, storage bins, feeders, and bulk material reclaim & crushing facilities.
Some responsibilities and tasks include:
• Using 2D and 3D CAD to create belt conveyor circuits feeding and receiving feed of various crushing, screening, and storage facilities
• Developing designs and creating drawings for construction and permitting in line with industry standard drafting practice
• Creating 3D models of material handling facilities at a level of detail that will support construction
• Assigning work and checking work done by other designers
• Reviewing supplier drawings and incorporating their equipment in drawings and 3D models
• Carrying out 3D model reviews with Project Management and clients.
• Other duties as assigned• Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study, or; A combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years*; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Accredited two (2) year diploma or global equivalent in field of study related to CAD or mechanical design
• Over ten (10) years experience in carrying out conveyor, crushing and/or screening facilities design using 2D and/or 3D CAD
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials• Knowledge of 2D Bentley Microstation CAD and Intergraph SmartPlant 3D CAD
• Advanced knowledge of conveyor layout and detailing requirements or platework design
• Experience in a consultant firm, manufacturer, or mine site facility
• Prior experience with comminution circuits and/or port storage and ship loading
