What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biologist position at Flux Resources, LLC?
Flux Resources is seeking Biologist-Mids to assist with Disaster Recovery efforts in Iowa and Kansas City, MO. Pay rate is $42/hr. Actual starting pay is dependent upon experience, education, or other bona fide factors. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
Must have a bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in a related field and professional registration or bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a related field.
* Should demonstrate experience writing scientifically technical documents on biological or ecological issues, as well as writing technical analysis for NEPA documents.
* Should have experience implementing the consultation process under the Endangered Species Act.
* Should have experience collecting, interpreting, and exchanging technical biological information using letters, reports, and meetings within and outside of the organization.
* Should have general knowledge of environmental and historic preservation (EHP) laws, executive orders, regulations, agreements, policies, and procedures.
* Should have ability to analyze data and make timely and informed recommendations and decisions based on consideration of the facts, objectives, constraints, risks, and regulatory requirements.
* Should have ability to prepare well-organized, audience-appropriate written reports and documents.
* Should have ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external parties and stakeholders.
Tasks:
o Serve as technical authority for matters pertaining to endangered species, wildlife, fisheries, and other biological aspects of planning and implementation of disaster recovery and mitigation projects. Provide subject matter expertise regarding biological, ecological, and endangered species considerations during project development.
o Provide technical advice and assistance on biological or ecological issues to key managers and supervisors within the organization. Prepare briefing papers, correspondence, and presentations regarding project status and policy issues.
o Conduct activities pursuant to Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act. Draft and review biological opinions, National Environmental Policy Act documents, and findings documents.
o Work with federal resource agencies and project proponents to develop programmatic and other streamlining Endangered Species Act compliance tools.
o Integrate data into reports, documents, or other work products and deliverables.
o Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide technical assistance on biological and ecological issues to incident organization leadership and external stakeholders.
o Communicate biological, ecological, and endangered species information, advice, and opinions in a proper, precise, and timely manner to solve problems, answer questions, and inform others.
