Position Summary:

The Bulk Plant Operator 1 is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the bulk plant facility, which supports oilfield services by mixing, blending, and delivering a variety of chemical and cementing products. The operator ensures proper handling of materials, maintains plant equipment, and follows safety and environmental protocols to meet operational standards. This entry-level position requires attention to detail, technical skills, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Loads and unloads bulk materials (cement, chemicals, additives) using pumps, conveyors, and other equipment.
  • Accurately blends and mixes chemicals and cementing materials according to specific job requirements.
  • Weighs and measures bulk products for mixing and shipment.
  • Ensures proper documentation and inventory control for materials received and distributed.
  • Operates and monitors bulk plant machinery, including pumps, blenders, valves, and scales.
  • Performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on bulk plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues and reports malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Assists in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the plant facility.
  • Follows all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Properly handles and disposes of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Conducts safety checks and participates in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Communicates effectively with the operations team, drivers, and other departments to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintains accurate logs and records of material movements, equipment use, and work performed.
  • Collaborates with drivers to ensure timely loading and unloading of trucks for delivery.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in oilfield services, bulk plant operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pumps, and other bulk material handling equipment is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills for weighing and measuring materials.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. 
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions. 
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed. 
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
