Position Summary:
The Parts Porter is responsible for transporting and delivering parts and materials to various departments and job sites as needed. The role involves maintaining inventory, assisting mechanics with parts retrieval, and ensuring that all parts are delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This position plays a critical role in supporting maintenance and operational activities by ensuring parts availability.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Transport parts, tools, and equipment between the warehouse, maintenance shop, and job sites.
- Assist with the receiving, sorting, and storage of parts in the warehouse.
- Ensure all parts are accurately labeled and placed in their designated storage areas.
- Coordinate with mechanics and operations staff to deliver parts promptly as needed.
- Perform routine checks of inventory levels and notify the supervisor when stock needs replenishing.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of parts storage areas.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines while handling parts and driving vehicles.
- Assist with tracking and documenting parts usage for maintenance records.
- Ensure proper documentation of all parts transactions, including receiving and delivering items.
- Support warehouse staff in periodic inventory counts.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience working in a warehouse or parts department is preferred.
- Basic understanding of oilfield equipment and parts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and transport heavy parts (up to 50 lbs).
- Effective communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
