Position Summary: The Pump Down Service Supervisor at Flying A Pumping Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating pump down operations supporting wireline completions. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and effective deployment of pumping equipment and personnel at the wellsite, with a focus on operational excellence, HSE compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Lead field pump down operations, ensuring timely setup, execution, and demobilization of equipment.
- Supervise and mentor crew members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with wireline, frac, and other third-party service providers to ensure seamless on-location operations.
- Perform pre-job planning and post-job evaluations to enhance job performance and client satisfaction.
- Monitor pump rates, pressure, fluid levels, and equipment performance in real time.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical or operational issues that arise during jobs.
- Communicate effectively with clients, company representatives, and internal leadership.
- Complete and maintain accurate job-related paperwork, including JSA, pre/post-job reports, and maintenance logs.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and inspected regularly in accordance with DOT and company standards.
- Support ongoing training and development of pump down personnel.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in pump down, wireline support, or related oilfield operations.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of high-pressure pumping equipment.
- Valid CDL Class A with clear driving record (preferred).
- Ability to work long hours in demanding field environments.
- Proficient in completing job documentation and using digital reporting tools.
- Commitment to safety and ability to lead a culture of safety in the field.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
