What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Animation TD position at Flying Bark Productions?
Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as the recently announced Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, Marvel Studios’ What If…?, Disney Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.

We’re looking for a Senior Animation TD, specialising in Maya to work closely with our CG Supervisors and our Lighting / Surfacing TD on a high profile CG Animated Series for a major streaming network.
The Senior Animation TD will liaise with them on coding and creating tools to streamline processes in Maya for predominantly the Animation team, but also advising the Modelling, Rigging & CFX Teams, as well as being responsible for debugging issues and finding solutions to avoid recurring problems.
About the role:
- Troubleshoot and debug technical issues related to shot pipeline workflows, including performance optimisation and playblast issues
- Develop and maintain Maya tools to streamline or give quality of life for the Animation & adjacent teams
- Collaborate closely with other departments, such as modeling, texturing, FX and lighting to ensure seamless workflow between departments.
- Taking a proactive and solutions-driven approach to any technical problems experienced by crew, or escalated by leads or supervisors
- Work within a team and maintain good team dynamics.
- Self-manage and complete tickets within production deadlines.
- Communicate and seek information when necessary.
And all other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Production Company.
About you:
- Minimum 3 years of high-end feature film VFX and/or Animation experience as a Show TD
- At least 3 years of experience with Maya Software & programming tools within it
- Showcase toolsets on personal projects / usage
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Python and Python 3
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, particularly in asset pipeline workflows.
- Familiarity with Shotgrid API and Shotgrid Toolkit is a plus.
- Ability to support, assist, and mentor other team members.
- A thorough knowledge of the animation pipeline from modeling, surfacing, grooming, rendering through to compositing.
- A demonstrated understanding of shading networks.
