Position Summary:
The Low-Voltage Technician plays a vital role in the success and growth of The Flying Locksmiths Memphis. This hands-on role focuses on installing and servicing access control and camera systems for commercial clients. Technicians must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, and service access control and video surveillance systems, both basic and complex.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs, including system programming, equipment testing, cable running, and component replacement.
- Interpret schematics and blueprints to complete installations accurately.
- Train customers on system functionality and suggest additional features based on their needs.
- Address and resolve customer concerns; recommend corrective services as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with sales staff and attend client site visits.
- Define and document scope changes, including add-ons and change orders.
- Manage projects from initial walk-through to final sign-off and transition to service.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, installations, and troubleshooting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in access control, cameras, or related skilled trades.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience reading schematics and blueprints.
- Mechanical aptitude with solid problem-solving skills.
- Alarm Technician or similar low-voltage certification.
- Experience with access control systems such as:
- Openpath, ProdataKey, 2N, Kaba E-plex, Alarm Lock, LTS, Alocity, Lockly, CDVI
- Hardware: biometric readers, keycards/fobs, mobile credentials, electric strikes, mag locks, power hinges, electrified levers
- Door coring and related hardware installation
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, and reach above/below shoulders
- Manual dexterity for handling tools and small components
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
- Tolerant of year-round outdoor working conditions
