The Business Development and Sales Manager position will provide technical expertise, who can deliver high quality error-free work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures in a fast-paced environment. The position will require patience and willingness to handle multiple tasks with technical and analytical processes.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
- Develops and manages sales/marketing operating budgets
- Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
- Develops and recommends new markets and industries along with suggestions to pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
- Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
- Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Proactive with branding and social media marketing strategies
- Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.
- Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs.
- Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
- Meets with key clients and maintain relationships, negotiate and close deals. Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Assists other departments within the organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
- Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales and presentations, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
- Directs industry research and development
- Review RFP / RFQs; prepare drafts, and proof responses for submission

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, this position would require the ability to carry marketing materials into trade shows. Marketing materials can be multiple cases and up to 50 lb. at a time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50 hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and client/ customer emergencies.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. This position must be willing and able to travel to various trade shows. Percentage of Travel is estimated at about 10-30% but can vary based on projects and functions.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business development or marketing or related in industry business development and/or research and development experience.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
