Job Title: Lab Technician

Reports to: Plant Manager and Production Manager

Department: Distillation

Shift: First (7:00am - 3:30pm) and Swing Shift (evenings, 3:00pm - 11:30pm)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hourly rate: $20-24 per hour DOE

Benefits: 401k, medical, dental, vision, PTO, sick time

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary:

Complete support and assistance of the entire processing and production process in a laboratory setting. Assures that all equipment remains clean, safe, orderly, and functional.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for Performing lab support functions of any kind, including but not limited to: maintaining, repair, cleaning, storage, assembly, and disassembly.

This person will have, at minimum, a basic understanding of

- 2 stage molecular distillation

- Operation of vacuum pumps

- Basic understanding of hand & power tools

- Handling laboratory glassware

- Operation and care of short path (10L and 20L)

- Crystallization/isolation of CBD distillate using 100L-500L stainless steel and glass reactors

- Maintenance of pumps: hoses, gaskets, valves, seals

- Solvent recovery using roto vape

- GMP facility/GMP requirements

- Production warehouse environment, including use of a forklift

As well as the ability to:

- Monitor automated systems

- Effectively fulfill duties by GMP compliant standards

- Work efficiently in a team environment

- Carefully follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

- Handle sensitive glass-wear and solvents

- Performance of periodic maintenance

- Identify and report dysfunctional equipment

- Solve or report issues relating to production efficiently

- Operate attentively and follow lab society protocols and standards

- Maintain a clean, pristine environment

Additional Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned or needed.

Job Specifications:

  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of FM Labs and affiliates.
  • Professional representation of FM Labs at all times.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various audiences.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment appropriately.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of company philosophies and goals
  • General understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, safety regulations, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.

Additional Requirements:

· Must pass any and all required background checks

· Must have flexible availability.

· Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal, regulatory, or company-mandated requirements for working in the industry

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, some trade school preferred.
  • 1 years of previous extraction, distillation, laboratory environment and/or cleaning experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions, as well as stooping, squatting, crawling, lifting, and carrying tools/equipment.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance at least 50-75 pounds (150 pounds with assistance)
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
