What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Counsel position at FMA Alliance, Ltd?
This is an in-office, full time, permanent position. Compensation commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance will be considered.

Position Purpose: To provide current legal advice and sound recommendations for the business operations and to maintain leadership in the areas of Compliance and Human Resources in a constantly changing and intensely competitive marketplace.
Specific Duties:
Legal
· Oversee Legal Department
· Respond to claims and complaints
· Research legal issues
· Negotiate Settlements
· Represent company on legal matters, when necessary
· Coordinate claims submitted to insurance carrier with assigned counsel
· Assist in risk evaluations of current/potential vendors
General Corporate
· Review Contracts and Agreements
· Risk Management -- maintain insurance policies and seek alternatives
· Advise on company policies and procedures
· Maintain corporate records and state filings
· Report legal matters at corporate board meetings
Compliance
· Maintain licensing and renewals, including out of state authorities to do business
· Assist Quality Assurance department with compliance issues
· Management presentations
· Advise on changes in laws, specifically, collection, credit bureau reporting, and health insurance portability and accountability act, at both federal and state levels
· Approve/amend letters for compliance with federal and state laws
Human Resources
· Advise on employment law & benefits issues
· Oversee Director of Human Resources
· Ensure compliance of procedures and coordination of information among departments
Miscellaneous
· Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
· J.D. degree
· License to practice law
· Undergraduate degree in business related field preferred
