FMC Health is seeking a skilled and motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. The CMA will work under the direction of a physician or other healthcare provider to assist in the delivery of patient care. The CMA will perform various clinical and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
- Assist with examinations and procedures, including specimen collection, wound care, and medication administration.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1C.
- Perform basic clerical tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and updating patient records.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by the physician or other healthcare provider.
- Provide patient education and instruction regarding treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care.
- Communicate with patients regarding test results and follow-up appointments.
- Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited medical assistant program required.
- Current certification as a medical assistant through a recognized national certification agency, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in computer skills with experience in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR is a plus
