Job Title: Capital Project Engineer
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead capital projects to replace or upgrade equipment/infrastructure; participate in design studies and reviews, selection of vendors, lead shutdown planning to maintain operations, construction support, commissioning, and turnover to the customer.
Work in partnership with site process owners and key stakeholders to identify business needs and translate into an executable capital project considering resources, budget and Facilities strategic plan.
Be a Champion of Safety and address any unsafe conditions and behaviors.
Follow FMC Capital Deployment Process (CDP) to develop and deliver larger projects safely, on-time, on-budget and on scope from concept to closure.
Create and route Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests on a wide range of projects before releasing the job to the site construction team for execution.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with third party vendors on behalf of FMC
Closely partner with the contract administrators and planners to prepare estimates and schedules for smaller projects.
Work with Procurement to ensure Confidentiality Agreements and Master Service Agreements are in place, as well as obtaining proposals for design and issuing Purchase Orders within Ariba.
Provide leadership, guidance, and determine priority to design and construction firms and work at times in the field with construction management to facilitate process and address design issues as they arise.
Oversee work in the field to ensure proper scope, communication and safety while work is performed.
Lead monthly steering team updates to report on overall capital projects status to business leadership and bi-weekly meetings with site contract administration and engineering to execute projects.
Collaborate with Facilities Engineering Team to assist with engineering standardization (specifications) and facilities issues.
This position is on site 5 days a week. Occasional weekend or off-shift work required for special projects.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Process, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred or relevant project management experience
MBA or advanced degree preferred
Project Management Professional Certificate (PMP) preferred
Experience & Skills
7+ years experience managing capital projects with increasing responsibility and complexity in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment
Project Management training and experience is a must have
Ability to analyze data and use problem solving techniques to resolve issues and implement change
Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Manages risk that comes with moving forward when the outcome may not be clear
Technical and comprehensive writing skills with the ability to develop sound business objectives
Strong financial and business acumen to account for multiple large-scale budgets and forecasts and the ability to clearly present projects to Senior Leadership for support
Proactively seeks ways to improve processes
Strong documentation and communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project. SAP would be a plus.
Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems would be a plus. (EcoStruxure, Andover Continuum, etc.)
